It used to be the hot seat
But it hasn’t been warm in weeks
The source of articulation
Moves so slowly it creaks
A blank stare into nothingness
Precious moments slipping away
Desired creativity
Difficult to convey
Searching for replacements
For my stillborn thoughts
A preferable idea
To untangling all the knots
Stuck at the starting point
Mentally squeezed
Impatient readers
Are hardly pleased
Grasping for vivid language
Through a voice in which to speak
So many excuses
Not one of them unique
Listless and stubborn
Incapacitated by doubt
Nothing’s ever good enough
Throw it all out
