Loveless Existence

A loveless existence
Buried beneath this earth
A forgotten soul
For what it’s worth
Decaying by the second
Soon to disappear
Never stood a chance
The embodiment of fear
Surrounded by desolation
And overwhelming dread
An endless hunger for passion
That was never fed
Trapped by inadequacy
Tortured by doubt
If given another chance
Would choose a different route
Continually haunted
By the memories of regret
The pungency of solitude
Was always a safe bet
A prisoner of my own making
Stuck in this confined space
My reward for inaction
And a life without grace
